The Spirit of Adventure Council is pleased to announce that it will be offering The National Restaurant Associations ServeSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification Course. As Scout leaders we often find ourselves in situations where food is being served to our members or to the public. Any time we go camping, man a fundraising booth at a civic event, host a Blue and Gold dinner or a Troop Court of Honor, we can find ourselves in a situation where a good basic knowledge of food handling, food safety and sanitation is required. Additionally, any organization in the state of Massachusetts selling food is required to have someone with a Serve Safe certification present. This course will fill all those needs.

Class: November 3rd and 4th  from 6:00 - 9:00PM. Exam is November 10th at 6:00 PM. Attendance at all Class sessions is mandatory.
PRICE:
$200.00 ServeSafe courses typically cost more than $225.00 so we are happy to be able to offer the course at a discounted rate to the Scouting Community.

The ServSafe® program provides food safety training, exams and educational materials to foodservice managers. Students can earn the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification, accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP). It is a nationally recognized certification and is valid for five years.The program blends the latest FDA Food Code, food safety research and years of food sanitation training experience. Students learn to implement essential food safety practices and create a culture of food safety. All content and materials are based on actual job tasks identified by foodservice industry experts.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

This course will be taught by George Kouloheras. George is a certified instructor with the National Restaurant Association for its nationally recognized Serve Safe course. He has been an instructor for the course for the past eight years and has over a ninety percent passing rate for his students. George has thirty five years experience in the Food Service Industry. He is a 1996 graduate of Newbury College in Boston with a degree in Culinary Arts. He is employed by Epicurean Feast as the Director of Food Services for Middlesex Community College. George, an Eagle Scout, is a lifelong Scouter. He currently serves as a member of the Yankee Clipper Council Camping Committee and as the Food Service Adviser for Nanepashemet Lodge of the Order of the Arrow.
