As seen in the December 2015's Boy's Life!

Every Scout has one event in their Scouting career that they tell everyone about for the rest of their lives- this is that event.  This is the type of camp that adventurers dream of.  A week of learning how to Ice Climb with trained staff on the best Ice Climbing ice in the Boston area and in New England.

Program- The program will run for 5 days.  Monday and Tuesday will focus on learning the basics of Ice Climbing at the New England Base Camp at Camp Sayre.  The days will be spent learning climbing safety, gear and how to use it and practice with using crampons and ice axes.  Wednesday and Thursday will be an overnight experience where you travel to Auburn Massachusetts, camp overnight at T.L. Storer and climb in Rumney New Hampshire, home of some of the best ice climbing in New England.  We are back at camp on Friday to share with our friends at Winter Camp what we have learned and what we can do!

Who can come- This camp is open to Boy Scouts and Venturers who are currently registered in the Boy Scouts of the America.  Scouts from all Councils are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Age restrictions- Scouts must be at least 11 years of age, though they must be up to the physical challenges of ice climbing.  This includes upper body strength.

Prerequisites- Scouts do not have to have been ice climbing before in order to come, we will take care of the teaching.  They should have some climbing experience though.  This can be on natural face (rock) or in a climbing gym.

Cost-The cost for the week is $395.

Additional questions- If you have any additional questions, please contact either Darrin Johnson at djohnson@bsaboston.org or Karl DeBisschop at KDeBisschop@gmail.com.
