Merit Badge University

 

The Harvard College Friends of Scouting in conjunction with Spirit of Adventure Council presents Merit Badge University (MBU) 2020.  Merit Badges are an important part of the Scouts BSA Program.  At MBU, Scouts may earn up to three badges that are not typically available in a camp or troop setting including STEM-related merit badges at Harvard University.

Session 1: Saturday, April 18th (8 AM - 2:30 PM)

Session 2: Saturday, May 2nd (9 AM - 2:30 PM)

Both sessions are required. Some badges have a field trip on an intervening Saturday or Sunday to be determined by individual Merit Badge Counselors. Registering for session one automatically registers you for the same merit badges in session two.

For some badges, some requirements must be done prior to the first Saturday session. Counselors will correspond with Scouts in February with this information. To complete some merit badges, other work will need to be done between the first and second session and emailed to the counselor.

 

   Check-In & Opening 8:00am- 9:00am

 

  Period 1  9:00am- 10:30am

Period 2  10:45am- 12:15pm

Period 3   1:00pm- 2:30pm

Note: Badges are offered in all three periods with a few exceptions. Robotics and Public Health take up Period 1 & 2; Collections is only offered in Period 1; Animation is only offered in Period 1 & 2; Fingerprinting is only offered in Period 2; Aviation is only offered in Period 2 & 3; Moviemaking is only offered in Period 3; and Scouting Heritage is only offered in Period 3.

 

For Scouts in The Spirit of Adventure Council, counselors will use Scoutbook to input advancements. For those outside of our council, please bring blue cards and see the Blue Card Instructions if you have questions on how to fill them out.
