Any Scout can connect online, work on merit badges, including Eagle-required badges! Counselors help Scouts earn Music Merit Badge.

Please register. Registrants will be sent the online link and call-in information to connect into the class digitally. Max 25 Scouts.

How will Scouts get credit for the merit badge?

  • Scouts from within the Spirit of Adventure Council will have their advancement logged directly into Scoutbook where possible. 
  • Scouts from other Councils will be mailed a blue card after the merit badge class is completed. Please ensure your address is filled out correctly when you register. Due to the circumstances, we are not requiring that blue cards be signed by Scoutmasters in advance. If your Scoutmaster would like to verify with the Counselor, they are welcome to reach out once you hand in your blue cards. All information required to do so will be on the blue card.

Pre-requisites: 
  • Req. 3b: Interview an adult member of your family about music. Find out what the most popular music was when he or she was your age. Find out what his or her favorite music is now and listen to three of your relative's favorite tunes with him or her. How do those favorites sound to you? Had you ever heard any of them? Play three of your favorite songs for your relative and explain why you like these songs. Ask what he or she thinks of your favorite music.
  • Req. 3d: List five people who are important in the history of American music and explain to your counselor why they continue to be influential. Include at least one composer, one performer, one innovator, and one person born more than 100 years ago.
  • Req.5: 1. Define for your counselor intellectual property (IP). Explain how to properly obtain and share recorded music. 2. Make an homemade musical instrument to be used in class (example. You can use toilet paper or paper towel tubes to fill with rice and make a homemade maraca / shaker. Block off the ends with paper and an elastic.

Cancellation Policy

REQUESTS FOR REFUND REQUIREMENTS

1. Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing via email or letter to the Council Service Center.

2. Refunds must include the participant's name, unit (if a participating scout), the session and an explanation for his or her absence.

3. Requests for refunds more than 14 days prior to the start of camp will be granted.

4. AFTER 14 days prior to event start date, refunds will only be granted for illness or injury (a doctor's note may be requested) or a death in the immediate family. Other emergency situations may be considered at the discretion of the Council Program Director.

5. Refunds will not be granted for scheduling conflicts, no-shows, weather or behavioral issues.
